Ever since finding out I was pregnant, I stopped using products with harmful ingredients. There are some topical ingredients that should be avoided as they can have some effects to babies. Unfortunately not just things going inside my body can be harmful to the baby. My body is changing and so is my skin. I plan to make sure my skin weathers not only the cold winter but this pregnancy as best as possible. My skin will take all the help it can get. I’ve kept my skincare pretty simple.
Cleanse – Always make sure that my makeup is off at the end of the day. My best bet some days is my Clarisonic to give me that extra clean feeling.
Exfoliate – I know there are some safe gentle exfoliants available but what’s good or what’s bad of you when your pregnant really depends on who you talk to. To make things easier, I avoid anything salicylic acid, hydroxy acids and benzoyl peroxide. Anything over the counter that was prescribed to me I’ve also stopped using. I’m no expert so when in doubt, ask your doctor. Again, another safe alternative for a light exfoliant is the Clarisonic with your everyday cleanser.
Another one I’ve turned to is the B.Kamins Mud mask. I was told that this is a safe product with no harsh ingredients. This mask is made to eliminate oily buildup on the skin that causes blemishes and breakouts. It leaves my skin smoother, firmer and more radiant after just one use. I remember receiving a sample a few years back and can’t remember why I even stopped using it.
Moisturize – This is the most important step for me as it feels like the baby is taking all the moisture in my body. The one that I’m currently obsessed with is the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream. Absolute bomb!
That’s it! I told you it was very simple. If any of you mommys have any skincare tips, I’d love to hear them!
